E-Waste FAQ

What is Hard To Recycle?

The average American generates 4.6 pounds of trash PER DAY – but most Americans only recycle 1.5 lbs of such waste.

The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) in partnership with ECOvanta is providing opportunities for area residents to properly dispose of a wide variety of materials at  “hard to recycle” collection events scheduled in 2013.

We have had a busy 2012 with our “Anything with a cord” collections.  Let’s look at the numbers:

  • 265,965 total pounds collected.

  • 33 total collections 25 unique collection locations.

  • Hosted by 5 corporations, 2 malls, 10 communities

  • 3 environmental fairs

  • 3 civic organizations

  • 2 special pick ups

In our region, the beauty of this popular program is our ability to personalize the collection to best suit our hosts. This is why we keep being invited back for additional collections. It’s not just about compliance with the “Covered Device Recycling Act of 2010”; our successful collections begin a dialogue about PRC East that promotes our organization.   We also offer our partners environmental security. They are confident we have done our due diligence and the product collected will be processed in a safe and responsible way. Communities, corporations and civic groups are pleased to partner with the oldest non-profit environmental organization in the state. This level of professional security is hard to duplicate with other collection companies.
Our model of collection suits any size location. We are able to set up in tight quarters if need be and because we don’t ask for a guarantee of minimum weight we can accommodate most ay request for service.

Prior to collection day, we will complete all State required registration forms and partner with our host to promote the event.  We provide a professional, hardworking staff, all the supplies needed at the collection site, and clean up after ourselves. Within a few days of most events we will let you know the results of the collection; just how many pounds of waste have been diverted from a landfill near you.   If you are interested in hosting an event please call Jayne at 610-353-1555 ext. 222 and we can schedule it right away.
